2013 Green Lake Regional AYA Tournament

Saturday June 15, 2013

Grab the family and head to Deacon Mills Park in downtown Green Lake on Saturday, June 15, for the  5th Annual Green Lake Regional AYA Fishing Tournament!   Between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm, while the “Angler Young Angler” (AYA) teams are fishing for bass, you’ll get plenty of chances for cool family fun and excitement.

There will be lots of free games, for kids of all ages, including the annual favorite ‘Backyard Bass’.   Prizes for every event, everyone wins!   You will also have the opportunity to meet some of the local area organizations that help sponsor this great not-for- profit event.

All events are open to the public during the tournament, so stick around to watch the teams come in with their catch.  At 2:30, each young angler team will weigh in up to five small mouth bass caught in Green Lake that day.  First prize is a Lund 12’ fishing boat with a 5 HP 4 Stroke Mercury Outboard on a Shorlandr’ trailer.  The winners will also go to the International Championship to fish on Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Ontario, Canada, to compete against other teams from Canada and the U.S.  All young anglers will receive a trophy and prizes along with a lifetime of memories.

For the 50 teams, the day starts at 6:30 am, when boats are checked in and then launched.  The Opening Ceremony is at 8:15 am on Dartford Bay when Green Lake High School musicians will play the National Anthem.  The trickle start begins at 8:30 am.

The Green Lake Chapter of Walleyes for Tomorrow will return all small mouth bass caught in the tournament back into the waters of Green Lake.  For more information about the event contact Norton’s Dry Dock at 920-295-3462.
