2015 Green Lake Regional Angler Young Angler Fishing Tournament
Saturday, June 20, 2015
For the seventh straight year Dave and Krista Norton, of Norton’s Dry Dock, are working with the Angler Young Angler (AYA) National Organization, a not-for-profit organization, whose goal is to promote fishing and family values in a youth tournament. The event focus is young anglers working with adult mentors and family bonding.
The 2014 Green Lake AYA Tournament had 48 teams; young anglers spending time fishing with fathers, mothers, and mentors; creating memories and stories that will last a lifetime. Each team in the tournament consists of one adult angler and two young anglers, 17 and under. From the 8:30 am blast-off to the 2:30 pm weigh-in, each youth explores the water with their partners, in search of the right combination of 5 small mouth bass needed to take first place. To complete the day, Angler Young Angler ends with an awards presentation, made possible by donations from area and national sponsors. The winning team goes home with a Lund A -12 fishing boat powered by a 5HP Mercury 4 stroke outboard on a ShoreLandr’ trailer. And new this year, two additional lucky young anglers will each be given a $1,000 scholarship!
In 2014 every young angler received a rod/reel/line, a soft sided tackle box, over 25 lures, a trophy, a bag of goodies, and life long memories of a great day spent on Green Lake fishing. The event includes official weigh-in, prizes, awards, and BBQ to follow a hard day’s fishing. We invite you to take a look at pictures from the day on Norton’s Dry Dock FaceBook page.
Again this year Norton’s Dry Dock is holding this tournament on Green Lake, based out of Deacon Mills Park, Saturday, June 20, 2015. We are looking for fishing teams to fill this event. It promises to be a day to remember. New applications will be accepted April 1, 2015. Starting position is set by receipt of entry fee, with a 50 team limit. Don’t be left on the dock!
